Do you still keep in touch with the Witnesses?

I feel that it would be impossible to maintain the same strong relationships, and understandably so the foundation for the friendship have changed tramatically. But if i need maintance work carried out i always use my witness friends and the conversations are pleasent and religion is avoided. ( i am not disfellowshipped but i wear a gold necklace with 3 crosses, which surprisongly hasnt botherd them. Wierd as an athiest it doesnt bother me wearing it either)

I should add that i wouldnt risk the above illustration with an elder.

i'm a born in, 32 years in and almost 6 out.

i've been out of the jw's since october of 2008. i came out due to a variety of factors, blood, historical roots, false teachings etc... my older sister helped me out back in 2008 and i subsequently helped my brother exit and the 3 of us became "born again" christians.. i've been mostly lurking but occasionally posting on jwn for around 5 years.

Well i think i the case is one or lost on jury selection, so if if the jury was a mix of Jehovers Witnesses,Mormons, Born Agains ect i would concede no contest.

What does money represent to YOU ?

for example does money represent to you power, love, joy and much more or does money represent to you feelings of worry, guilt, anger, sadness.. for myself i have always enjoyed living largely on little, and i can appreciate that the best things in life are free.

having said that i am glad i have been fortunate and sensible enough with money to never have exsperienced the anxiety of debt.

and it may sound silly but i dont think winning it big on the lottery would improve the quality of my life nor my family.

Legacy all i can add to that is that in Sweden there is a word named " LARGAM" it doesnt exist in English but ithe closest i can translate is " enough" ie not having to much nor two little. I also think since leaving the witnesses i have spent a lot of time trying to find peace within myself. Its included" meditation" but i think you can meditate on walks, or on a commuter train, or before you sleep. Finally in my exsperience the less complicated people are often the most sincere, and more relaxed about their masculinity/ femininity than those that have their identity wrapped in materalisam.

Anyway i think we both agree Jehovers servents arnt " the richest people on earth" in money nor in happiness.

Legacy you got it. I also think being rich makes a person feel better than those that dont have it. Thats my personal shame. Anyway i wish i could play the piano or guitar and i think Legacy you seem very rich inside your heart. I mean health is good and taken for granted often until its to late. And i noticed ( just my personal exsperience)on occassion women notice money not me, and i noticed " beauty" not the woman.

But for all young witness lurkers reading i say get your foot on the property ladder, find something to love that LOVES you back..and dont waste anymore time on " saving the world"

Ready to step my apostate game up...

just dont know when i'm gonna be able to do that.. right now, i am working full time, i go to school part time, etc.

i want to start traveling more, doing more activist work, visiting more apostate friends, and helping to get people out of this 'so called religion.'.

in other words, i want to start going to un-preach where the need is great.

You sound wonderful Joliette " I have a lot of built up feelings inside of me" ...today i started a post " dealing with feelings of resentment" .

Anyway i understand you but i think the biggest protest is letting it go and going on to have a FANTASTIC life.

How did HQ handle the increase of new JWs leading up to 1975?

this new donation arrangement under the pretense that so many new halls are needed to accommodate the worldwide increase has me wondering.

the numbers in the current annual reports don't show anywhere near the increase as there was leading up to the 1975 debacle.

so how did the gb of the time handle a genuine need for more kingdom halls?.

Neverendingjourney...i think the bills were being paid, but thats not really what its about...its about GREED and i think a " awake" up call to what people attach there lifes to.

I hate the word ORGANISATION, it makes the blame blameless...who were the people that deside these policies...( its more than the G.B)

Would i be right in thinking " quick builds" were built on cheap wasteland and 40 years later that land has become desirable new home development land. I mean if so those specuative investments deserve respect.( Buying empty land in a developed area is always good investment)

Dealing with feelings of resentment?

on the main i have found peace with my watchtower exsperience, but i do have occasional feelings of resentment towards some i feel dissapointed in.

i have tryed to dismiss this with it was my fault for putting these people on a pedestal they didnt belong.

but how deal with these feelings?.
